No matter where the pain is located, our bodies are predisposed so that muscular problems will materialize in 8 specific places, the 8 crossroads. These locations are responsible for the majority of shock absorbtion, opposing gravity and movement in our body. By addressing trauma at these points, we can address the causes of muscular aging.

The opportunities for injury are bottomless. This is not to depress you but to shift your thinking on how to stay muscularly young. Trying to tip-toe through life avoiding injury is near impossible.

The 5 Basic Ways things go wrong

  • Past Traumas – Remnants of old traumas – car accidents, emotional traumas, falls – stay with us as habits/compensations
  • Overuse Injury
    • Active Overuse – stresses of rapid starts and stops (from sports or moving something heavy) cause micro-tears of muscle to pile up
    • Passive Overuse – The act of stabilizing ourselves is very stressful, making our back hurt if we do something like painting
  • Repetitive Stress – typing, shoveling, even the elliptical machine can harm muscle by doing the same things over and over
  • Emotional State – Hostile states of mind – depression, anxiety, fear – cause cringing patterns in the muscular conducive to poor posture and muscular pain. Ironically even the fear of pain leads to more pain
  • Trauma begets Trauma – the vicious cycle ensues when injury leads to compensation which leads to more injury…Stop the insanity!
